postcard – you got this

This postcard was painted along a tutorial from Sarah Cray (Let’s Make Art).

I submitted this painting to Jenna Rainey’s 2024 edition of the ‘Creative Courage Competition’. The prompt was a picture of beautiful Icalendic poppies.
I called my piece ‘peace’, because Icelandic poppies signify peace, because it is something I search for in myself through painting, and because I believe we need it in our human connection and the world around us.

This postcard was inspired by a painting from ‘The Wild Pencil’

A tutorial from ‘de Winton Paper & Co’ started this postcard.

In the fall of 2024 I found Clairefonaine’s coloured paper and decided to experiment with coloured pencils and a fall theme.

inspired by Sofie van Schadewijk

In the summer of 2024 I made a small collection of tiny paintings.
Some of them sprung from my own imagination or reference photo, for some of them I looked at the work of artists I follow online.
In some cases I followed along with a tutorial, and in a few I made ‘copies’ just to familiarize myself with a new technique or subject. These are the artists that inspired me (I will link to their Instagram accounts):
> Heike Kuzminski
> Kolbie Blume
> Sarah Cray
> Nadya Bonten-Slenders
